My Life in Lyrics: From Me to You

"From Me to You" is one of the first singles by my all time favorite band, the Beatles (get your eye rolls and snarky comments out of the way now). Relatively unknown, especially as one of their number ones, this has always been one of my underrated favorites. Recently, however, I merely saw its title glaring at me from my computer, and the lyrics ran through my head like my life in neon signs.
If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
with love from me to you
I've got everything that you want
like a heart that's oh so true
Just call on me and I'll send it along
with love from me to you
I've got arms that long to hold you
and keep you by my side
I've got lips that long to kiss you
and keep you satisfied
That's it. Those are the only words in a catchy '60s bubblegum pop record that comes in at under two minutes. And yet, their simplicity is what rings true to me. This song, so bluntly put, is about what you'd do for the person you love.
It's not a someone bragging to their partner about all the things they can give them. The only things it explicitly states as being able to provide is a true heart. The last stanza suggests the physical aspects and hints (at best) at some sexuality, but those aren't even things they can just send. It's specifically a longing that they feel; he wants to hold and kiss her, but only if she desires it.
And even though it's implied that they are not together, this isn't a whiny song whose lyrics cry itself to sleep every night, wanting and wishing after this person and wondering why they can't see what a wonderful person they are and all that crap that, admittingly, often consumes me. This song says, "Well, I love you, so if you need something, let me know. I'll see what I can do. I want you to be happy, so I'll do the best I can and let you know that I care."
Some days are worse than others, and I become that forlorn alternative^^ but for the most part, I just try to make his days brighter and let him know that if someone loves him, it's this girl.
With love, from me to you

Here we are alive

Welcome to all you Cardys, cool cats, and hipsters alike.
My name's Janelle and I am Emma Ramirez (the fluctuating sock).
Here we plan to share our thoughts on the sound around us, the beauty that is indie and classical and sometimes straight up pop.
So pick up an herbal tea, sit on your comfiest chair, and criticize us as we criticize music.
Come as you are.
